EMSELLA® Pelvic Health & Urinary Incontinence Treatment in Calgary SW

EMSELLA® is a non-invasive treatment by BTL that uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM®) technology to strengthen the pelvic floor — restoring bladder control and improving sexual function in both men and women. Sessions take 28 minutes. You stay fully clothed. There is no medication, no surgery, and no downtime. Health Canada licensed for the treatment of urinary incontinence and for enhancing sexual function. At Westside Dental in West Springs, Calgary, EMSELLA® is overseen by our on-site Dentist and family physician, as part of our new Pelvic Health program — clinical expertise no other dental clinic in Calgary offers.

What Is EMSELLA®?

EMSELLA® is a clinical-grade chair developed by BTL — the same company behind EMFACE®, EXION™, EMVITAL®, and EXOMIND® — that delivers focused electromagnetic energy directly to the pelvic floor.

In a single 28-minute session, EMSELLA® triggers thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions — far more than anyone can achieve voluntarily through Kegel exercises. Over a course of treatments, this re-trains your pelvic floor: stronger tone, better neuromuscular control, and improved support for the bladder, urethra, and pelvic organs.

You sit fully clothed throughout the session. No undressing. No physical exam during treatment. No discomfort afterward.

The Science Behind EMSELLA®

High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM®) Technology – HIFEM® uses the same physical principle as MRI: focused electromagnetic fields that pass painlessly through skin and clothing to reach deep muscle tissue. Unlike voluntary contraction, HIFEM® bypasses the limitations of conscious muscle control and stimulates the entire pelvic floor – including the deep fibres most people cannot consciously engage.

Supramaximal Contractions – In a single 28-minute EMSELLA® session, the pelvic floor undergoes thousands of supramaximal contractions. These contractions are deeper, faster, and more complete than any voluntary exercise can produce – building strength, endurance, and neuromuscular control over a course of treatments.

Physician-Led Care – At Westside Dental, EMSELLA® is integrated into a medically supervised Pelvic Health program. Our on-site family physician, assesses your symptoms, reviews your medical history, and ensures the treatment plan fits the whole picture of your health – not just the pelvic floor.

Your EMSELLA® Treatment Experience

Step 1 – Consultation You meet with our pelvic health team. We review your symptoms, your medical history, and your goals — in plain language, with no pressure. If EMSELLA® is appropriate, we build a treatment plan together. If something else is better suited to your situation, we’ll tell you.

Step 2 – Treatment  You arrive in comfortable clothing — and stay fully clothed. You sit on the EMSELLA® chair, settle on a comfortable intensity with your provider, and read, scroll, or simply rest while the chair delivers thousands of contractions over 28 minutes.

Step 3 – Walk Out Within moments, your 3D digital twin appears on the screen alongside your provider. Together you review the analysis — skin-health scores, brown spots, redness, texture, and volume — in clear, plain language.

Step 4 – Results  Most patients complete a course of 6 sessions over 3 weeks — two sessions per week, spaced 2 to 3 days apart. Many notice improvement after the first 2–3 sessions. Full benefits build progressively over the weeks following your final session.

Maintenance: A single touch-up session every few months is often enough to sustain results long-term. Your provider will help you build a plan that fits your life.

EMSELLA® – Whole-Body Wellness at Westside

EMSELLA® is the cornerstone of our new Pelvic Health program – but pelvic floor function rarely exists in isolation. Postural strain, chronic pain, disrupted sleep, and stress all influence pelvic muscle tone and bladder control.

That’s why EMSELLA® patients at Westside Dental can also access our integrated care for chronic pain (EMVITAL®), mental wellness (EXOMIND®), and advanced sleep diagnostics – all under one roof, all coordinated by Dr. Sabah and our medical team.

Your pelvic health is part of your whole-body health, and we treat it that way.
