Chronic Pain Affecting Mental Health in Calgary SW
Chronic Pain Affecting Mental Health
Chronic pain and mental health are deeply interconnected – persistent pain drives anxiety, depression, and emotional exhaustion, which in turn lowers pain tolerance and makes recovery harder. At Westside, Dr. Sabah, our on-site family physician, sees the full picture – and our Pain Relief program and EXOMIND™ mental wellness treatment can address both dimensions as part of one coordinated care plan.
How we treat it: EMVITAL® laser therapy addresses the physical pain – delivering drug-free, non-invasive relief for musculoskeletal pain including jaw pain, neck tension, and back pain. For patients whose persistent pain has affected their mood, confidence, or mental wellbeing, EXOMIND™ brain stimulation – Health Canada-licensed for depression and anxiety – may be recommended alongside the pain relief program. Dr. Sabah oversees both assessments.
This care is provided on the medical side of Westside under Dr. Sabah Jarullah, family physician. Every patient begins with a medical assessment; insured visits are covered under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. No referral needed.

How Westside helps with chronic pain affecting mental health
At Westside, mind and mood concerns begin with an assessment by Dr. Sabah Jarullah, our on-site family physician. From there you follow one of two EXOMIND™ TMS pathways – clinical treatment for a diagnosis such as depression, anxiety, OCD or binge eating, or the wellness pathway for brain fog, stress and poor sleep – alongside any therapy or medication you already have.
We are in West Springs, Calgary SW – Suite 1120, 930 – 85th Street SW – serving Aspen Woods, Cougar Ridge, Springbank and the surrounding communities.
