– EXOMIND® Mental Wellness Treatment in Calgary SW
Mental Wellness Treatment
At Westside Dental, we believe that true health goes beyond your teeth and skin. EXOMIND® is a drug-free, non-invasive brain stimulation treatment that supports mental wellness — helping patients experiencing depression, anxiety, chronic stress, and low mood find meaningful relief through science. We are proud to be EXOMIND®’s official launching partner in Alberta, making us one of the only clinics in the province where this treatment is available. Approved by Health Canada and FDA-cleared, EXOMIND uses ExoTMS™ technology — a breakthrough evolution of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) — to gently activate the areas of your brain involved in emotional regulation, mood, and cognitive function. Sessions take under 30 minutes, with no medication, no downtime, and no side effects.
EXOMIND is not a replacement for professional mental health care. Please speak with a qualified healthcare provider to determine if EXOMIND is appropriate for you.
What Is EXOMIND®?
EXOMIND is a next-generation transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) device developed by BTL – the same company behind EMFACE, EMVITAL, and Emsculpt. It uses ExoTMS™ technology to deliver precise magnetic pulses to targeted areas of the brain, activating neural pathways involved in mood regulation, emotional control, and cognitive clarity.
TMS has been studied for decades and is a well-established therapeutic approach. What makes EXOMIND different from traditional TMS devices is its streamlined treatment protocol, enhanced patient comfort, and shorter session times — approximately 30 minutes versus 40–60 minutes for conventional TMS. In clinical studies, 90.9% of patients found EXOMIND treatments comfortable.
EXOMIND is Health Canada approved for the treatment of depression, anxiety, OCD, and excessive eating disorders.
The Science – How ExoTMS™ Works
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation – Explained Simply During an EXOMIND session, the device generates gentle, focused magnetic pulses that pass safely through the scalp and skull to reach specific regions of the brain. These pulses stimulate neural activity in the targeted area – in a way similar to how physical exercise strengthens muscles and neural pathways in the body.
Targeting the Right Region EXOMIND targets the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) – the area of the brain most associated with mood regulation, self-control, decision-making, and emotional resilience. In people experiencing depression, anxiety, or chronic stress, this region is often underactive. By gently stimulating it, EXOMIND helps restore more balanced, healthy brain activity over a series of sessions.
Neuroplasticity – Your Brain’s Ability to Change One of the most remarkable things about the human brain is its capacity to rewire itself – a phenomenon called neuroplasticity. Each EXOMIND session promotes this process, strengthening the neural connections that support emotional regulation and positive mood. Over a course of treatment, this creates lasting improvements that continue to build even after the final session.

Who Can EXOMIND® Help?

Your EXOMIND® Experience at Westside Dental
Step 1 — Consultation We begin with a thorough wellness consultation to understand your symptoms, goals, and health history. A safety screening is completed to confirm EXOMIND suitability (the device is not suitable for those with certain implanted metal devices or a history of seizure disorders).
Step 2 — Positioning You are comfortably seated or reclined. The EXOMIND applicator is positioned precisely over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. The motor threshold is calibrated to your individual brain on the first visit.
Step 3 — Treatment The session begins. You’ll feel a light tapping or gentle fluttering sensation on your scalp — most patients describe it as mild and easy to tolerate. Sessions run approximately 24–30 minutes. You remain awake throughout and can relax, close your eyes, or listen to music.
Step 4 — Walk Out There is no downtime. You can drive, work, and continue your day as normal immediately after each session.
Step 5 — Results The standard wellness protocol is 4 treatments, spaced 5–10 days apart. Some patients notice improvements in mood and mental clarity within the first few sessions. The greatest benefits typically emerge over the 4–12 weeks following treatment as neuroplasticity progresses.
