What Is EMFACE®?
EMFACE® is a non-invasive treatment by BTL that combines two powerful technologies at the same time: Synchronized Radiofrequency (RF) and HIFES® (High Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation). While the RF gently heats the skin to stimulate new collagen and elastin production, the HIFES simultaneously contracts and strengthens the lifting muscles of your face — the same muscles that hold everything up.

Your EMFACE® Treatment Experience
Step 1 — Consultation We assess your facial structure, skin quality, and goals. For TMJ patients, we also evaluate jaw function and pain levels. We’ll create your personalized plan.
Step 2 — Treatment Three self-adhesive applicators are placed on your forehead and cheeks. You’ll feel a gentle warming sensation from the RF and rhythmic muscle contractions from the HIFES. Most patients describe it as feeling like a relaxing facial massage — with a slight tingling or fluttering in the cheek muscles.

The same HIFES muscle stimulation, with the submentum applicator under the chin, is used at Westside as a wellness protocol for snoring: four weekly sessions of about 20 minutes that train the muscles which tension the soft palate and support the floor of the mouth. It is not a treatment for sleep apnea – every patient is assessed by Dr. Sabah Jarullah, family physician, first, and direct research on EMFACE® for snoring is still limited. Results vary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does EMFACE® hurt?
No. Most patients describe a gentle warmth from the RF and a rhythmic fluttering or tightening sensation in the cheek muscles from the HIFES. There is no pain and no need for numbing cream.
How many treatments do I need?
The standard course is 4 treatments, each 20 minutes long, spaced 1–2 weeks apart. Your provider may adjust this based on your individual goals.
When will I see results?
Some patients notice subtle improvements after their second or third session. The most significant and visible results develop 6–12 weeks after the final treatment as collagen remodelling progresses.
Is there any downtime?
None. You can resume all normal activities immediately after each session.
Can I combine EMFACE® with injectables?
Yes. EMFACE® complements injectable treatments well. Your provider will advise on the ideal timing and combination for your specific goals.
How long do results last?
Results typically last 6–12 months or longer. A maintenance session every 3–6 months helps sustain your outcome.
