Cavities are one of the most common dental problems – and at Westside, we treat them in a way that most people never expected possible: without needles and without a drill. Our Solea laser technology allows Dr. Z to remove decay and place a tooth-coloured filling comfortably and quickly, with no injection required for most patients.
What is tooth decay? Tooth decay occurs when bacteria in the mouth produce acid that gradually erodes the tooth’s enamel. Left untreated, decay deepens into the tooth, eventually reaching the nerve and causing pain, infection, or the need for more complex treatment. Catching and treating cavities early – at your regular check-up – keeps treatment simple and cost-effective.
How we treat it: We use tooth-coloured composite resin fillings that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. For most patients, Solea laser removes the decay without any needle – no freezing, no numbness, no waiting to unfreeze. For larger cavities, a crown may be recommended.

Do I need a referral?
No. Book online or call (587) 288-8190 – new patients are welcome and you will be seen by our dentist for an exam first.
Is it covered by my dental insurance?
We follow the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), bill most dental insurers directly and explain any portion that is not covered before treatment begins.
I am nervous about dental work. What are my options?
