1. Check your letter
Your CDCP welcome letter or member card shows your member number and the date your coverage starts. Bring it, or a photo of it, to your first visit.
If you have a Canadian Dental Care Plan welcome letter or member card, you can book with us in West Springs, Calgary SW. We submit your claims to Sun Life, which administers the plan for the Government of Canada, so you pay only your co-payment, if you have one, and any amount the plan does not cover – and we tell you what that is before treatment begins, never after.

A complete exam with Dr. Zubaida Hussain, digital X-rays only as clinically needed, and a professional cleaning with our hygiene team – about two hours, with a written plan to take home.
We submit claims to Sun Life for you, request preauthorization where the plan requires it, and explain any portion that is not covered before any treatment starts.
Eligibility is decided by Service Canada, not by the clinic, and applications for the 2026–2027 benefit period are open. In general you can apply if all of the following are true:
The plan is open to eligible residents of every age – children, adults and seniors. Coverage runs by benefit period, so members confirm each year that they still have no access to private dental insurance. Apply online at canada.ca/dental or by phone at 1-833-537-4342.

The CDCP pays a share of its established fees based on your adjusted family net income:
CDCP fees are set by the plan and may differ from a dental office’s usual fees, so members can be asked to pay a difference on top of any co-payment. At Westside we go through your coverage and any amount you would pay yourself before you accept treatment, in writing, so there are no surprises.
Exams, digital X-rays, cleanings (scaling and polishing), fluoride and sealants, at the intervals the plan allows.
Fillings, root canal treatment, gum (periodontal) care, extractions, dentures and some crowns. Several major services need preauthorization from the plan before treatment – we request it for you.
Orthodontics (braces and aligners) is currently not available under the plan, and cosmetic treatments such as whitening are not covered. We always tell you when something falls outside the plan.
