Bladder Leaks & Urinary Incontinence in Calgary SW

Bladder Leaks & Urinary Incontinence

Leaking when you laugh, cough, sneeze or exercise; rushing to the bathroom; getting up at night more than you used to. Bladder leaks are common after childbirth, with menopause and with age – and they are treatable. Many people wait years before mentioning it; you do not have to.

At Westside, bladder control is physician-led and discreet: an assessment with Dr. Sabah Jarullah first, then a plan that may include pelvic floor training, bladder and lifestyle strategies, medication where clinically appropriate, and the EMSELLA® chair – a non-invasive treatment that strengthens the pelvic floor muscles while you sit fully clothed.

This care is provided on the medical side of Westside under Dr. Sabah Jarullah, family physician. Every patient begins with a medical assessment; insured visits are covered under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. No referral needed.

Signs you may notice

  • Leaks with coughing, sneezing, laughing or exercise
  • Sudden urges that are hard to hold
  • Frequent trips to the bathroom, day or night
  • Weakness or heaviness in the pelvic floor after childbirth
  • Leaks that are affecting sleep, exercise or confidence

How it is assessed and treated at Westside

Your assessment identifies the type of leakage and its likely cause – stress, urge or mixed – and rules out anything that needs other care. Treatment is built from that: pelvic floor muscle training, bladder strategies, medication where appropriate, and EMSELLA® sessions for pelvic floor weakness, each session about 28 minutes in a private room. The physician assessment is an insured service under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan; any private costs for device-based courses are explained before you commit.

How Westside helps with bladder leaks & urinary incontinence

Treatment ranges from prescriptions and minor procedures to physician-led programs for weight, menopause, pelvic floor health and pain, with EMSELLA® and EMVITAL® available where they fit, and the dental, sleep and wellness teams down the hall when your concerns overlap.
